Wait Time for Adoption

Hi everyone,

Thought I would take a moment to update everyone on the wait time for the adoption. August 14th will be the 5th month since our LID (log in date of our paperwork in China) The current wait time is 12 months after LID so we are looking at another 7 months before our referral. At that time we hopefully will get our Child's picture and what little information that they know about her. Then we prepare for travel which will be 4 to 8 weeks after we receive our referral. Now if for some reason we turn down our referral our wait time will significantly increase so please pray that that won't happen. The wait time has doubled since we began our adoption so at times I find the wait time hard to endure. Because of this increase we may have to redo our immigration papers and fingerprinting.

During the wait time one of the hardest aspects is for me to be able to have a consistent work schedule. I was in between jobs when the adoption began and I find it hard to find consistent work since I cannot make long term commitments to a job. I am hoping to be a stay at home mom for at least the first few months of parenthood. So far I have had some work during this time but do not have a job lined up for the fall so please pray that something will come up.

I am thankful for our yahoo support groups online. It is a group of many parents who are also adopting from China. We form many activities online that we can participate in to help make the long wait more bearable. I am involved in a Children's book swap every other month. We have themes and are assigned a book buddy every other month and mail them children's books. This helps build up a good library of books for our daugther. We also have a hair ribbon swap forming that I may join. I currently joined a qulit square swap. I have no clue how to sew and know nothing about quilting but thought it would be a fun challenge and great opportunity for me. With each square sent out a wish or encouragement is shared. Once the quilt is completed I will have the most wonderful quilt for our daugther of squares from other adopting parents from all over the world. There are many of these families that we may have the opportunity to meet when in China because many of us have the same LID month. We have a group called the Marching Pandas where we are making buttons or scarves for each family to wear so when in China we can find each other.

Please continue to pray for our daugther, for her health and for someone in the orphanage to show her love so she won't feel all alone while waiting for us. Please pray for her birthmom, giving up a child is such a difficult choice to make. Please also pray for her health and for the pregnancy because our daughter may not yet be born. Thank you to everyone who continues to pray for us and for our daughter.
